How To Live More Sustainably
We can all agree that since quarantine has started, we have quickly realized how many of our products in our environments are one-time use! There are a lot of little things we can do at home to be more sustainable and eco-friendly.
FOOD PACKAGING
Use reusable glass or plastic containers and washable produce bags.
REUSABLE BAGS AND BOTTLES
Always have reusable bags ready to take to the store, and use reusable water bottles.
CLEANING PRODUCTS
Use eco-friendly cleaning products, and bulk buy to save on plastic wrapping.
RECYCLING
Find local recycling centers, or check with your neighborhood garbage service to see if they pick up recycling. You can recycle paper, plastic, batteries, ink toner cartridges, cans, and anything else that has the recycle sign.
COMPOST & GARDENING
Create a home compost bin by using food scraps, for example, eggshells, leftover vegetables, and fruit, and used coffee grounds. If you have a home garden you can use your compost to help grow your plants.
REPURPOSE
Use old coffee tins or soup cans as organizers for pens and other items on your desk. Use old wine and beer bottles as flower vases!
CLEANING & ECO-FRIENDLY TIPS
Here are a few easy changes you can make when you are cleaning:
- Use cold water whenever doing laundry
- Try to use washable cloth instead of paper napkins and paper towels.
- Turn off lights when you leave the room, and try to use as much daylight as possible.
- Line dry your laundry.
- Unplug any appliances you aren’t using to save on energy.
- Switch to energy-saving appliances and light-bulbs.
